Everyone knows that one of the most regular car services is the ever present oil change. In the past, it was always every three months or every 3,000 miles. But is that always the case now?
Turns out, as times change, so have cars. And not just on the outside, but on the inside too! Cars are more efficient in their use and the oil that’s being used is higher quality too. Now, there are a number of different recommendations on when it’s the right time to get an oil change.
This article from MSNBC sheds more light on the subject. Contributor Herb Weisbaum writes, “Here’s what to do: Check your owner’s manual and follow the manufacturer’s recommendation. If it says change the oil every three months or 3,000 miles and you haven’t traveled 3,000 miles in that time, change it anyway. But, I think you’ll find that the recommendations are much longer than that. For instance, Acura suggests that I change the oil in my car every 7,500 miles or one year.”
