A fire occurred over the weekend in Chicagos Englewood neighborhood, which is located on the south side. Three firefighters were injured while working on the fire.
This all happened around 5:30 a.m. On Saturday morning. The house that the fire started in was located on the 6700 block of South Emerald Avenue. It began in the basement of the 1½ story home.
Although the cause of the fire remains a mystery as of yet, we do know that one other person was injured besides the firefighters. They were taken to the University of Chicago hospital and are considered to be in fair-to-serious condition.
The injured firefighters are in that same condition. Two are being treated at St. Bernard Hospital, and other is at University of Chicago Hospital.
Its no secret that being a firefighter is considered a very dangerous job. In fact, according to statistical study in regards to last year, 81 firefighters died on-duty. Being a firefighter also listed third place for being the “Most Stressful” job.
